Description
Camu Camu (Myrciaria dubia) is a native shrub of the Peruvian Amazon, which grows wild in alluvial soils flooded during the rainy season. It is found mainly along the Putumayo, Ucayali and Amazon rivers and their tributaries. Camu Camu is a fruit with a pleasant acid taste, similar to cherry and lemon. The main characteristic of the fruit is its high content of vitamin C (antioxidant). The Camu Camu provides 3000 to 6000 mg of vitamin C per 100 g of pulp – between 57 and 114 times more concentrated than the orange.
