Description
Small perennial grass (5 centimeters) with twisted, cracked root, short dark-brown stem, and small (0.5 to 1 centimeters) dark-green leaves. The flowers are small (0.5 to 1.5 centimeters), of purple or violet color. The fruit is contained in hard capsules with a large number of dark brown or black seeds.
Benefits
Hercampuri contains bitter compounds known as eritaurins and glucosides, which make the plant a cholagogue (facilitates the secretion of bile), choleretic (secretion and excretion of bile), hypocholesterolemic (reduces cholesterol) and diuretic (increases the secretion of urine). It is known and valued for its properties as a hepatoprotector and cholesterol reducer, and for diabetes control. Hercampuri is also recommended as a detoxifier, burning body fat by regulating the metabolism, reducing excess body fat without risk of anorexia, and reducing the risks of cardiovascular problems.

Uses:
Add a spoonful to a liter of boiling water, leave to stand for five minutes and strain. Drink a mugful half an hour before every meal, as an alternative to tea. If making a single mugful, add 2.5-4 grams.
